

This version of the game is largely based upon the PlayStation 1 release and contains completely redone voice acting which is now used for most story events. There are also new battle sprites for the main characters that are more on par with those of later games in the series, such as Tales of Eternia. They also added a grading system, also from later games of the series.

People say the reason why it was never brought over was because Nintendo still held the license for the English version of Tales of Phantasia in North America & Europe. So in January of 2014, Bandai Namco released a version of Tales of Phantasia for iOS in North America. It was a port of the PlayStation 1 version. It added touch-screen controls, achievements, and leader boards.


It also included voice-overs and improved animations. However, Bandai Namco took it down from the app store after a few months. They never gave a reason as to why they removed it. The game features a total of about 80 costumes.While some enjoyed the game, others were frustrated with its monetizing system. For example, Dio can change into Samurai and Shinobi clothes while Mel can change into Nurse and Witch clothes. The two main characters of the game Dio and Mel can change into any of the clothes they are given, depending on the clothes the characters can change skills and obtain certain equipment. Battles take place in a 3D environment with 2D character sprites. Gameplayīoth games utilize the Cross Arts Aerial Linear Motion Battle System (XAR-LMBS) which is a tweaked version of the series’ Linear Motion Battle System which is used in almost every game in the series though each game features its own unique version of the LMBS. The patch translated menus only not the story. The game’s theme song is Glass Flower (ガラスの花 Garasu No Hana) and was sung by Hanako Oku. The story begins 205 years after the beginning of Tales of Phantasia. The original game was the first sequel in the Tales series, which normally does not have connected storylines. Tales of Phantasia: Narikiri Dungeon X is a remake of the Game Boy Color role-playing video game, Tales of Phantasia: Narikiri Dungeon, for the PlayStation Portable developed by Namco Tales Studio and published by Namco Bandai.
